The crossover is one of the most devastating ball handling weapons you can add to your arsenal of skills. It takes time to develop this skill but if done right it can be used to get opponents out of your way to give you room to shoot or to go to the basket. Once you learn how to get your feet involved with the crossover dribble there is not an opponent who can stay in front of you. Its important to understand that the crossover is used to get past a defender or to get room from a defender so you can do what you want to do. Over the years the crossover has been misused and abused by players for entertainment purposes. Players sometime use it to get “Oooohs and “Ahhhs”, but thats not the purpose of the crossover. Its ok if you are in the streetball entertainment industry, but if you are not….you should not be using it as a means to stroke your ego. It should be used to make room and get by your opponent. You should practice it along with a pull up off of it. Also a pass off of it too. So get in the gym and work on adding an effective crossover to your skill set.-Coach Mac.
